Let’s Get Frank: The Trials and Triumphs of Barney Frank
Produced and directed by Bart Everly, distributed on DVD by First Run Features, and released in 2003, "Let's Get Frank" covers a crucial chapter in the distinguished political career of Barney Frank as he participated in the tawdry footnote of United States' history known as The House of Representatives Judiciary Committee's impeachment of President William Jefferson Clinton in 1998.
Everly's camera had 24 months of access to Frank's personal and political lives. His film provides a brief biography and then covers Frank's role as a member of the House Judiciary Committee. Times have changed just slightly since 1998. Throughout the film Frank refers to 'the right wing of the Republican Party' in driving the hearings. The slight change is simply that there is no longer a 'right wing.' The party has become its right wing. While Mr. Frank has retired, gotten legally married to his same-sex partner, and continues to be a respected voice in American politics.
The DVD's special features include an eleven minute interview of Barney Frank, brief biographies of the filmmakers, and First Run Features trailers.
