Hot Type: 150 Years of “The Nation” The irony is particularly poignant at this time: "The Nation" magazine is the United States’ oldest continuously published weekly magazine. Although it is the preeminent publication of the Left, it was founded in 1865 by Republicans. (You see, Republicans, here is even more proof of evolution.)
Academy Award winner Barbara Kopple’s “Hot Type” spends ninety minutes with the magazine’s leadership, staff, and its iconic readers. We learn the magazine’s history as well as issues the publication faces in a world changing at light speed. The film is revealing and thoroughly engaging.
