Cohen’s Animation Annotations by Karl Cohen
Grads Create Animated Funmobile
Professor Paul Naas, working with a small team of recent graduates from San Francisco State and Cañada College, just finished the first round of animation for a mobile app for FunMobility. While Naas coordinated the project, the animators were Brenden Oshima, Eileen Laitinen (both from San Francisco State) and Lisa Roecks (Cañada). The animation team designed a cast of characters and created 38 Flash-based animation clips for the app.
"The client is thrilled with the work the team produced," Naas noted, "I was happy to be able to help my former students get some early professional experience."
Experimental Animation in the Bay Area
Sunday, March 20, 5 PM, the Pacific Film Archive, Berkeley, will screen an experimental animation covering the Bay Area from the 1940-80s, part of the Radical Light series. They will screen preservation prints of rarely seen works by Hy Hirsh, Lawrence Jordon, Scott Bartlett, Ralph Luce, and other artists. Yours truly (Karl Cohen) will be a special guest and will show "Sidereal Passage," his promo for Flight to the Future shows with music by George Mundy (1977). He will also project some of his unusual abstract psychedelic light show slides along with "Off-On," a film Scott Bartlett and friends made to promote the sale of the light show loops they had created.
