Video Arts

The view from the bridge at Video Arts is fair to partly sunny as befits our summer season. After a tough start, things have been heating up and we have enjoyed a modest updraft in activity and giving us some reason for optimism. Summer fun included developing the media for a big push by Nintendo at E3 in June, announcing their next generation controller.

Also in June, "Knife Fight", a political drama starring Rob Lowe and written and directed by Bill Guttentag, went in to production in S.F. Producers Daniel and Catherine Davila hired local hero Robert Dalva as editor and asked Video Arts to host the post-production, providing a pair of AVid editing rooms, technical and engineering support during editorial. The aggressive post-schedule calls the DI (digital intermediate) and color grading to be completed early this Fall with VA colorist Ed Rudolph.

VA is also wrapping post on "The San Francisco Symphony at 100" a special documentary being broadcast by KQED. Produced in conjunction with the SF Symphony and directed by Janette Gitler and edited by Blair Gerhkow, the program required the compositing a large number of green screen shots of interviews of the stars of Symphony past and present. Ed Rudolph was the colorist for VidArts with Loren Sorenson as the on-line editor with Scott Harris handling the compositing.

Other fun projects...VidArts produced a sizzle video for Beringer WInery priming the pump for their holiday promotions with heart-throb crooner, Michael Bublé and a branding video for Chateau St. Jean. Dave Murray has been providing design, motion graphics and editorial for a series of Visa videos for Karen Bisgeier and Richard Sloss of Dada and another Visa project for Rip Charbonnet Creative.
